Tennis Results: April 30
Concord 4, Wawasee 1
The visiting Minutemen took care of business Friday afternoon in Syracuse.
All five of the courts were won in straight sets, but four from the Minutemen, led by Claire Steele’s 6-1, 6-1 win over Casey Yankosky at No. 2. Maddie Copsey at No. 3 and the one dubbs team of Kate Steele and Gracie Westlake both claimed 6-3, 6-1 wins over Kaitlynn Jackson and the duo of Tate Cowan and Rylee Firestone.
Maggie Burkert and Addi May won 7-5, 6-2 against Kenley Stewart and Allison Stewart.
As has been the case, Kiah Farrington won her No. 1 singles match for Wawasee, Friday taking out Rylee Brenneman 6-2, 6-1.
Concord took five of the eight JV matches. Ella Beezley grabbed a singles court win for the Lady Warriors.
NorthWood 5, Bethany Christian 0
Smooth sailing for NorthWood in a home win.
Singles courts allowed just five games between Gabriella Umbower, Britton Jesse and Ashlyn Feller against the trio of Jackei Barber, Risa Bohn and Joryn Yoder.
Paige Henschen and Kate Stillson shut out Alysson Barkman and Alina Bergstresser. In the only court that had extended play, Emery Porter and Amy Adams held off the battle of Naomi Klassen and Tami Nguyen 6-3, 7-5.
Fort Wayne Concordia 4, Warsaw 1
The long trip to Fort Wayne came up short for Warsaw in a loss to the host Cadets.
Marie Frazzetta and Peri Britton had the lone win for the visitors, winning four and three at one doubles over Hollie Johnson and Madeline Dahlgren.
All three of Warsaw’s singles courts were competitive but on the short end of the scoreboard. Paige Zawadzki lost to Jadyn Stevens 7-5, 6-3, Regan Brouwer dropped a 6-3, 6-4 score to Shelby Schlicker, and Megan Mishler fell 6-0, 6-2 to Anna Pennekamp. The doubles duo of Kaylee Frerking and Ruth Dolde put away Anna Brehany and Kennedy Weideman 6-2, 6-1.
Concordia scored a 3-2 final over Warsaw in JV contests.
