Delbert LeRoy Miller
Delbert LeRoy Miller, 83, Goshen, died 8:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 23, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. He was born April 26, 1937, in Goshen, to Earl D. and Sadie E. (Shriner) Miller. On March 16, 1957, he married Eva (Holden) Miller.
Surviving are his wife, Eva, Goshen; four children: Rebecca (Danny) Ritchie, Middlebury; Russell Miller, New Paris; Keith (Karen) Miller, California; James (Tracy) Miller, Elkhart; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and one on the way and a sister, Betty Slauf, Vermont.
Preceding him in death are his parents, siblings, Earl Miller Jr., Nobel Miller, Billy Miller, Wilbur Miller and Bernice Asbury.
Delbert worked at New Paris Creamery for 18 years. He was a member of Maple Grove Church of the Brethren and loved his church family. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, deer hunting, turtle hunting and playing cards. Delbert loved cutting wood, driving his truck and was a “jack of all trades”. He loved his family dearly, cared for others first, was very kindhearted, a jokester and lived life to the fullest. He was known as the donut man and to everyone as the candy man. Delbert enjoyed going to garage sales and in his early 50’s was a sportsman’s guide.
Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at Whitehead Cemetery. Pastor Dwayne Runkle will officiate. In case of bad weather, the service will be at Maple Grove Church (across the road).
Memorial donations may be directed to Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa or Maple Grove Church of the Brethren.
