Grace Competes In West Lafayette
Grace’s men’s golf team competed on Monday at the Ackerman-Allen Shootout, held at Purdue’s Ackerman-Allen Golf Course.
The Lancers placed sixth out of 10 teams in a field heavily represented by the Crossroads League. Grace finished ahead of three league teams, including Mt. Vernon Nazarene, Huntington and Taylor.
Grace was consistent on the day, carding 315-316 across a long day of golf.
Noah Wright led the team with a scorecard of 80-76. He placed 15th out of 54 golfers. Payton Kelly was just behind Wright with a consistent 78-80.
Luke Delp made a massive improvement between rounds. After shooting an 86 in the opening round, Delp dropped his score by 11 strokes in round two. His three-over 75 was the fifth-lowest score in the second round among all golfers.
Blake Lawson (78-85), Parker Wilburn (79-86) and Tristen Dubbs (85-83) finished in close succession.
Grace’s season will climax next week with the Crossroads League Championships. The two-day tournament will be held on Monday and Tuesday at Orchard Hills Golf Course.
NorthWood 156, Fairfield 194
NorthWood posted its top result of the young season Monday in a visit to Meadow Valley.
Earl Williams and Cooper Wiens were on point, shooting 36 and 37, respectively. Jon Cripe was one behind at 41 and Kyle Cripe was right behind him with a 42. Brady Chupp tossed in a 49 in the varsity mix.
NorthWood also won the JV competition 193-242, led by Ben Vincent’s 41.
