Tippecanoe Valley 5, Knox 0
Valley (1-1) earned its first win of the season Thursday in a home sweep of the Redskins.
All five Valley court wins were in straight sets, Peyton Oldham the quickest in a shutout of Megan Timm at No. 3 singles. Hannah Parson cleared out Carissa Kulpa one and four at No. 1 and Gigi Engstrand put over Mallory McIntire one and two at No. 2.
The two Valley doubles courts gave up just three games to Knox, Kaitlin Neese and Mackenzie Costello just a game against Kennedy Holst and Miranda McCarty and Bri Feldman and Kaydence Shepherd a one and one and done of Cassie Hoar and Cadence Risher.
Valley took all four of the JV courts, giving up just four points in the process.
Goshen 4, Wawasee 1
Northern Lakes Conference play opened for the Warriors Thursday on the road.
Kiah Farrington again was the court winner for Wawasee (0-2, 0-1 NLC) after the team lost 4-1 to Westview on Wednesday. Farrington rallied from a 6-4 loss in the first set to Lucy Kramer to come back with matching 6-1 scores in the second and third sets to take the matchup.
Goshen swept the remaining tallies, Mara Schrock losing just one game to Casey Yankosky and Abril Diaz posting a 7-5, 6-2 win against Kaitlynn Jackson.
Joya Drenth and Kathryn Detweiler turned away Tate Coawn and Abby Moorehead, one and one, at No. 1 doubles and Sarah Harmekink and Tori Barkey nearly replicated the feat at No. 2 dubs with a three and one triumph over Kenley Stewart and Allison Clark.
Goshen swept all five of the JV courts to cap the day’s play at Goshen Middle School.
