Local Graduate Gains Experience At Indiana Statehouse
Press Release
INDIANAPOLIS — Warsaw Community High School graduate Aaron Wainscott is gaining experience as an intern with State Representative Craig Snow (R-Warsaw) and his fellow members of the Indiana House of Representatives during the 2021 legislative session.
Wainscott, a Kosciusko County resident, is the son of Brent and Candy Wainscott. He attended Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, where he majored in policy studies and earned a Bachelor of Science in public affairs.
“There is no greater internship program anywhere in the state for young people who want to be involved in government,” said Wainscott. “You truly get to see the impact of all your hard work on behalf of Hoosiers every day at the Statehouse.”
As a legislative intern, Wainscott corresponds with constituents through phone calls, letters and e-mails while also staffing committee hearings and floor proceedings.
“Students and recent graduates like Aaron have a lot to gain from a House internship, from building professional connections to developing communication and time management skills, which can help them as they launch their careers,” Snow said. “Throughout session, our interns are valuable members of the team, and I look forward to seeing more young adults from our community participate in this program at the Statehouse in the future.”
Each year, the House of Representatives offers paid internship opportunities to college students, law school students, graduate students and recent college graduates for the duration of each legislative session.
