Area Accident Reports
Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 3:13 p.m. Thursday, March 25, North Detroit Street north of West CR 300N, Warsaw. Drivers: Adam T. Small, 44, East Fort Wayne Street, Warsaw, and Katrina A. Burgin, 30, East Evergreen Drive, Warsaw. Small was traveling southbound on North Detroit Street north of CR 300N, Warsaw, when his dog in the back seat distracted him. He didn’t see Burgin’s vehicle, which was also traveling southbound on Detroit Street in front of his vehicle, slow down due to another vehicle in front of it. His vehicle hit the back of hers. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 11:41 a.m. Thursday, March 25, North CR 800W north of West CR 750N, Warsaw. Driver: John O. Miller, 35, East South Ave., Walkerton. Miller was traveling southbound on CR 800W north of CR 750N, Warsaw, when his vehicle left the roadway. It went through a yard at 7616 N. CR 800W and struck small posts and landscaping. The vehicle continued through the front yard into another property striking a fence and large post. Miller said he fell asleep while driving. Damage: Up to $10,000.
Mentone
Officers with the Mentone Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 3:45 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 305 W. Main St., Mentone. Driver: Amy M. Voth-Reed, 51, North Virgil Street, Akron. Voth-Reed was crossing the parking lot at Wilby’s and trying to go around another parked car when she struck a pin sticking out of a dumpster. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 2:15 p.m. Thursday, March 25, 106 N. Etna St., Mentone. Driver: Kevin D. Hopkins, 58, South Main Street, Claypool. Hopkins was backing into a dock space and his vehicle came into contact with a trailer that was attached to a van parked in the docking area. Hopkins said the trailer was in his blind area during backing. Damage: Up to $5,000.
