OSCEOLA – An Indiana drag strip has closed its gates after 63 years.

The Osceola Dragway announced Friday, March 19, in a Facebook post that it will not be opening for the 2021 season and “will be permanently closed.”

Track officials said the decision “was not an easy one,” but said the pandemic had affected ongoing efforts that began in 2016 to sell the property a few miles west of Elkhart.

Plans were announced in late 2019 to expand and transform the dragway into the Hoosier Motorsports and Business Park, but those plans fell through.
