Staff Report

Cory Allen Martin
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was recently arrested after stealing a guitar from a vehicle.
Cory Allen Martin, 33, 111 S. Wood St. Apartment A., Warsaw, is charged with theft, a level 6 felony; and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle, a class B misdemeanor.
On Jan. 24, a Warsaw Police officer spoke with a man about items being stolen from his vehicle. The man said when he left his residence, he noticed his vehicle’s trunk was open.
According to court documents, a guitar valued at $1,500 was stolen from the vehicle. The owner’s manual, bank receipts and vehicle registration were also stolen.
While searching the area, the officer found a book bag containing jumper cables and the vehicle’s registration in a dumpster. The officer was provided security footage of the dumpster. In the video, two people are shown carrying the book bag and putting it in the dumpster. They are seen attempting to enter another vehicle in the area but were unable to do so. The two people then begin walking in an area where another vehicle was reported stolen. This vehicle was later involved in an accident in Wabash County, with Martin identified as a suspect in that case.
Later that day, Warsaw Police officers went to speak with Martin about his possible involvement in stealing the vehicle that was wrecked. Officers were advised by a local towing company that Martin was acting as if he had been involved in a vehicle accident and suffered head trauma.
Martin was found unresponsive at his home and was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital. While providing medical assistance, one of the officers noticed the stolen guitar in Martin’s bedroom. The officer also noticed an owner’s manual from the man’s vehicle on a kitchen table.
While at the hospital, Martin allegedly denied knowing about the guitar or the owner manual.
Martin was arrested in January for stealing a vehicle; the vehicle was later involved in a Wabash County accident.
For this case, Martin was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on March 20, with a $5,250 surety and cash bond.
