WARSAW – For the 8th year in a row, the Kosciusko Board of REALTORS® (KBOR) partnered with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Indiana and hosted a “drive-thru” for 25 “Little’s” and their “Big’s” in the Boots for Scholars event.

On March 6, KBOR presented the children, and their adult partners involved in the Big Brothers Big Sister’s mentoring programs, each with a gift bag full of treats, a $40 Shoe Carnival Gift Card, and a $10 Gift Card to McAlisters.

“Having the Kosciusko Board of REALTORS sponsor Boots for Scholars is instrumental in supporting the success of our Littles in Kosciusko County,” said Jessica Shaw, Kosciusko Development Director for Big Brothers Big Sister of NEI. “As an agency, we have a mission to create and support one-to-one mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.  We want kids to focus on being kids and dream about big future,” she continued. 

“Boots for Scholars is a day that lets us celebrate our kids by allowing them to get some new shoes and a free lunch – relieving a burden from families.  Although we were not able to hold the event last fall in preparation for the upcoming winter boot season, we are still indeed in winter boot season (while simultaneously prepping for sunny sandal weather)!  We are so thankful to continue partnering with the extraordinary team at KBOR as we empower our kids and defend potential.”

The Big Brothers Big Sisters mission falls right in line with KBOR’s belief that children and families are made stronger when the community works together as partners to assist and support families in need.
