Kosciusko County
Officers with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office investigated the following accidents:
- 10:28 a.m. Friday, March 19, East Pierceton Road west of South CR 350E, Warsaw. Driver: Shelly J. Knepp, 41, East Pierceton Road, Warsaw. Knepp was traveling westbound on East Pierceton Road in the area of South CR 350E, Warsaw. She started to pass a fertilizer spreader and didn’t know the spreader was turning left into a driveway at 3317 E. Pierceton Road. The driver of the spreader said he didn’t activate his left turn signal before turning and didn’t see Knepp’s vehicle trying to pass. Her vehicle struck the spreader. Damage: Up to $10,000.
- 6:07 a.m. Friday, March 19, North CR 150W north of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw. Driver: Olga Mata, 53, Michaels Street, Warsaw. Mata was traveling northbound on North CR 150W just north of North Fox Farm Road, Warsaw, when her vehicle hit a deer. Damage: Up to $5,000.
North Webster
Officers with the North Webster Police Department investigated the following accident:
- 4:20 p.m. Friday, March 19, 627 S. Main St., North Webster. Drivers: Stephen White, 51, New Sunset Blvd., Jensen Beach, Fla., and Dustin L. Godsey, 39, East Pickwick Drive, Syracuse. White had pulled up to the car wash and pulled his mirrors in on his truck so it would fit. There was an issue with the wash, so he attempted to back up and failed to see Godsey’s vehicle behind him. His vehicle struck Godsey’s. Damage: Up to $1,000.
Warsaw
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department investigated the following accidents:
- 9:38 a.m. Saturday, March 20, US 30 and Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Drivers: Rebekah H. Dailey, 24, Wooster Road, Winona Lake, and Carmen L. King, 42, East Wayne Street, Laketon. Dailey was traveling westbound on US 30 approaching the intersection of Commerce Drive, Warsaw. Her vehicle was following King’s. Dailey looked down to find her coffee and saw that King’s vehicle had come to a stop when she looked back up. King said she had stopped because a disabled vehicle was in her travel lane. Dailey tried to avoid a collision, but her vehicle hit King’s. King complained of pain in her lower back, but refused EMS. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 9:25 a.m. Saturday, March 20, 2920 Frontage Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Adam J. Whitaker, 48, County Road 29, Syracuse, and Macallister R. Yarnelle, 22, West CR 1200S, Silver Lake. Whitaker was exiting the south side of the Burger King parking lot to go to the BMV. He didn’t stop when he got to the access road because there’s not a stop sign. He crossed the access road southbound, and Yarnelle’s vehicle was eastbound on the access road. As his vehicle was crossing the access road, it was struck by Yarnelle’s. Damage: Up to $5,000.
- 2:34 p.m. Friday, March 19, US 30 and Springhill Road, Warsaw. Drivers: Dana R. Niblette, 18, South Southwood Drive, Warsaw, and Jeremy A. Lukens, 41, EMS C27 Lane, Warsaw. Niblette was approaching Springhill Road on US 30, Warsaw, and didn’t see the traffic light had changed to a red light for east and westbound lanes. Before her vehicle entered the intersection, she said Lukens’ vehicle made a left turn onto US 30 from Springhill Road. Since her vehicle went through the red light, she said she couldn’t avoid Lukens’ vehicle. Her vehicle struck his. Niblette complained of pain in her jaw and left leg. A passenger in Lukens’ vehicle complained of pain in her neck. Both were taken to a hospital. Damage: Up to $5,000.
