Staff Report
WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after punching a woman in the face several times.
Cainan James Wilson, 28, 5762 N. 2nd St., Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and domestic battery with moderate bodily injury, both level 6 felonies; domestic battery and resisting law enforcement, both class A misdemeanors; and disorderly conduct, a class B misdemeanor.
On Feb. 7, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy responded to a domestic violence complaint. Upon arrival, the officer learned there had been a fight between Wilson and a woman.
According to court documents, the woman said Wilson had been drinking when an argument started about a cellphone. Wilson became angry and punched the woman in the face several times, causing her to fall to the floor. Wilson then allegedly grabbed her by the hair and slammed her face onto a hardwood floor, causing bleeding to her face.
A woman at the scene said she saw Wilson push the woman and slam her face into the floor. Two children were also at the residence at the time of the incident. One of the children witnessed Wilson slam the woman’s face into the floor.
The officer then spoke with Wilson at a local hospital. Wilson became angry, threw objects and refused to follow instructions. He attempted to remove an IV from his arm and take his clothes off. When medical staff determined he had no serious injuries or broken bones, Wilson was taken to the Kosciusko County Jail.
Wilson has an initial hearing on this case at 10:30 a.m. April 19.
