GOSHEN – A wrestling championship by Northridge helped the Raiders extend its lead in the NLC All-Sports standings while Warsaw continued to build its case for another banner on the girls’ side.
Northridge and Mishawaka split the wrestling title, giving each 15 points, but 20 combined points in basketball and swimming gave Northridge the biggest point total of the eight boys lines, a 35-point winter. Mishawaka was close at 34, with its split with Ridge in wrestling also complimenting a split with Warsaw in boys basketball along with four points in swimming.
Northridge leads Concord, 88-70, atop the standings, the Minutemen taking 16 points for its sweep of the boys swim season. NorthWood and Warsaw are tied for third at 66, with Goshen right behind at 62 points in fifth. Mishawaka (59), Plymouth (47) and Wawasee (45) complete the boys list.
The boys spring season will have track, golf and baseball contested.
On the girls side, Warsaw added 26 points with a second place in basketball and third in swimming to finish with 86 points, a full 22 points ahead of Northridge (64), which won swimming and was third in basketball.
Four teams are in pursuit of Northridge for the third spot, currently held by Concord (59), with Plymouth (55) and Goshen (55), the RedHawks earning its first-ever outright girls basketball championship with an undefeated run through the conference for the first time. NorthWood (52) is within striking distance of second or third. Wawasee (33) and Mishawaka (28) wrap up the standings through February.
The girls spring season will have track, tennis and softball contested.
