INDIANAPOLIS – He was one step away from a 1,000-yard season, but Juan Jaramillo will get a chance to run with the greats.
The senior running back for the Warsaw Tigers was selected to represent the North in the IFCA North-South All-Star Game.
In 2020, Jaramillo rushed for 998 yards for the Tigers and converted 15 touchdowns. The Tigers were 8-3 and played in the Class 6-A sectional championship in a loss to Homestead.
Jaramillo was chosen as one of four running backs for the North All-Stars, joining Elkhart’s Derrick Woods, Andrean’s Ryan Walsh and Lafayette Harrison’s Omarion Dixon in the backfield.
Warsaw defensive coordinator Kris Hueber was also listed for the North, to serve as one of the assistant coaches for South Adams’ Grant Moser, who will guide the team in the exhibition later this summer. The date for the game was not immediately released.
Among the Northern All-Stars from the area on offense include Plymouth’s Jake Reichard at wide receiver, and Mishawaka’s Jayden Semak, Mishawaka Marian’s Trace Walter and North Judson’s Dylan Marin on the offensive line.
On the defensive side of the ball include Mishawaka Marian’s Mitchell Menting, Penn’s Joe Apata and Carter Bach on the defensive line, Southwood’s Elijah Sutton at safety and LaVille’s Leyton Czarnecki at punter.
Southwood’s Doug Martz and Marian’s Mike Davidson were both listed among the assistant coaches and Columbia City manager Wyatt Warner will serve on the sidelines.
