Irene I. Pequignot
Irene I. Pequignot, 91, of Big Lake, died peacefully in the company of family at 3 a.m. March 1, 2021.
She was born July 14, 1929, in Toronto, Canada, the only child of the late Roscoe O. and Mary Jane (Price) Grover. Early in her childhood the family moved to Fort Wayne where she completed James Smart Elementary School and attended Central High School.
On April 17, 1948, she married Richard E. Pequignot. They made their home in Roanoke and Fort Wayne. Since 1962, the couple lived at Big Lake, Noble County. Richard died July 10, 2010.
She was a full-time homemaker raising the couple’s four children. She was a former member of the VFW, Columbia City, and Eagles Club, Columbia City.
Living at the lake, she enjoyed fishing and swimming and always delighted in a good game of Euchre. She had a special fondness for her dog Buffy.
Surviving are her children, Kathleen (John) VanHouten, Donald E. (Cheryl) Pequignot and Danny Pequignot, all of Columbia City; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 13 great-great-grandchildren.
Additionally, she was preceded in death by a daughter Katherine Pequignot.
There will be no services. Arrangements are by Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City.
