SYRACUSE — Members of Syracuse-Wawasee Chamber of Commerce and others held a grand reopening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Warriors Nutrition on Saturday, Feb. 20. The smoothie and energy tea bar, located at 706 S. Huntington Ave., Syracuse, offers a wide variety of low calorie, protein-based, meal-replacement smoothies and snacks.
Owner Amanda Balk acquired the health food club in Nov. 2020 after working in similar businesses for two years. “It was time to stop working for other people,” she commented. The business also enables her to bring her three children — ages 3, 4 and 12 — to work with her.
While keeping the name, Balk, along with Bekie Smith and their families, changed the space, installing a pallet wall and 125-gallon fish tank, while also replacing fluorescent lights with directional and can lights for a “more relaxing environment,” said Trent Smith.
Warriors Nutrition features meal-replacement smoothies containing 250 calories, 24 vitamins and minerals and 21 grams of protein, all with low sugar. “Everything we sell is good for you,” stated Balk. This includes the biscuits, donuts, bagels and even Jello shots, which are available in different forms on a rotating basis. It also includes the numerous coffee-based selections.
According to Bekie, Balk is focused on supporting other “small, local businesses,” by sourcing cups and other gift-shop items locally. Warriors Nutrition also holds regular customer appreciation events, with deals, prizes and giveaways, which can be followed on Facebook.
“We want to connect more with the community,” said Balk.
Employee Faith Bailey noted Warrior’s takes advance orders via phone or email, which is convenient for those hoping to pick something up before work. She also raved about the healthy desserts. “I can eat something sweetish and it it is good for me.”
