Reading Contest Among North Webster Library Activities
News Release
NORTH WEBSTER — Romance is in the air during the North Webster Community Public Library’s February reading contest.
For every book they read, audio book they listen to or DVD they watch with the word kiss in the title, patrons may enter a drawing for a chance to win a prize. When they return the items, they will simply fill out an entry slip with the title, their name and phone number and drop it in the drawing jar.
The reading contest runs until the end of February with the drawing taking place the first week of March. The more titles patrons check out, the more chances they have to win.
Children’s coloring
Despite the prediction of groundhog Punxsutawney Phil, spring is around the corner and the Youth Department encourages children to care and share the happiness of spring with a nursing home resident. Coloring sheets are available in the Youth Department for children to take home to color and personalize.
Children are asked to return their completed coloring sheets to the Youth Services Desk. Library staff will then deliver them to a local nursing facility for distribution to residents. It is a way to spread some cheer to those who are lonely and isolated.
1914 Atlas
Genealogists and local historians will find an interesting tool on the library’s website at www.nweb.lib.in.us. The 1914 Standard Atlas of Kosciusko County is posted there for online viewing and includes plat maps of the villages, cities and townships of the county.
The atlas provides a detailed depiction of the county as it appeared in 1914. It shows landmarks, businesses, historical photos, landowners’ names and the location of their property and provides valuable clues to deeds and other land records. To view the atlas, click on the link on the home page.
