CROMWELL — As another winter storm blew its way across the fields, the Turkey Creek Regional Sewer District met for a brief update on happenings from the past month Monday evening, Feb. 15. The meeting lasted just 20 minutes, but each committee and representative had a chance to share what they’ve been working on around the district.
Jeff Hersha and John Magsum of Jones and Henry provided a quick update on their progress and planning for the five new lift stations as the district moves ahead with adding sewers to Eastshore and Northshore drives. Magsum stated his team is hoping to finalize the plans and submit those to IDEM by the end of February.
Tim Woodward, district superintendent, indicated the water plant is operating well and his team just finished a water inspection report. Woodward noted water usage is running about 100% higher, which is expected when temperatures are low enough for pipes and lines to freeze. As people run water more frequently, or leave faucets on to drip, the usage will reflect those details.
Throughout the district, Woodward only had a few minor updates:
• The insurance claim from the driver who did property damage more than a year ago should finally be paid out this week.
• A sewer line was hit in three places near Buttermilk Drive, causing a leak of about 25,000 gallons per day. Repairs have been made and the district will not pay for that damage.
The district will meet again at 7 p.m. Monday, March 15.
