CLAYPOOL — The Town Council voted to increase burial expenses at Graceland Cemetery at a meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 16.

Regular grave openings at the cemetery, which originally cost $350, will now cost $550. Cremation lots will increase from $225 to $350. For burials that occur on a Saturday or arrive at the cemetery after 3 p.m. on any day, burials will cost an additional $225.

For the month of January, the Claypool Police Department responded to 195 calls for service. Reserve officers for the town worked a total of 143 hours.

Claypool residents were also reminded to remove trash cans from curbs and roadsides to avoid snow plows hitting them.

The council’s next meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 16.
