Mangas Earns Fourth Straight Crossroads Honor

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the league’s top athletes from February 1 through 7. Sports Information Directors from the league institutions nominate student-athletes for the awards and vote on each week’s winners.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Imani Guy, Marian
Guy broke the Marian single-game rebounding record with 20 boards in No. 5 MU’s win over Bethel and averaged 15.0 points, 14.5 rebounds and 3.5 blocks in two Knight victories. In the win over BU, Guy went for 15 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Kyle Mangas, Indiana Wesleyan
Mangas helped No. 1 Indiana Wesleyan avenge its lone loss of the year in a rematch with Grace, pouring in 30 second-half points on 11-of-11 shooting and ending with 38 points. For the week, Mangas went for 29.0 points, 7.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game over a pair of lopsided victories.
The award for Mangas was his ninth of the season in the Crossroads, and fourth straight.
Baseball Hitter of the Week
Kaden Sullivan, Saint Francis
Sullivan had a five-for-five day at the plate for Saint Francis and helped USF take its series at Union with eight hits in 12 at bats, five runs scored, two doubles and a stolen base. The junior posted a batting average of .667 and a slugging percentage of .833 in the three-game set.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Luke Shively, Taylor
Shively was nearly flawless in Taylor’s, 6-2, series clinching win at Bethel (TN), tossing six innings of one-hit shutout ball to take the win. Shively did not issue a walk and struck out seven batters in the Trojan victory.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Emma Wilson, Huntington
Wilson posted wins in the 3,000-meters and distance-medley relay for Huntington at the IWU Midwest Classic. Wilson’s time of 9:45.65 in the 3,000-meters is tops in the NAIA this year, while the DMR time of 12:17.76 also leads the nation.
Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Paige Sutter, Indiana Wesleyan
Sutter’s throw of 13.59 meters in the shot put won the event at the IWU Midwest Classic and is the longest toss of the year in the NAIA. Sutter also added a second-place showing in the weight throw.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Runner of the Week
Landon Miller, Indiana Wesleyan
Miller posted two wins, set a new school record and posted the second-best mark in the NAIA this season at the IWU Midwest Classic. The senior posted an IWU-record time of 8:22.06 to win the 3,000-meters and also helped the Wildcats win the distance-medley relay.
Men’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week
Noah Bise, Huntington
Bise took home a pair of second-place finishes in the long and triple jump for Huntington at the IWU Midwest Classic. Bise recorded the 11th-best mark in the NAIA in the long jump and set a new HU record in the triple jump.
