Warsaw Boys 64, Mishawaka 50

The Tigers put it to the Cavemen on a snowy night in the Kosciusko County seat.

In a key matchup in the Northern Lakes Conference race, Warsaw not only handed Mishawaka its first NLC loss, but took the lead in the standings with a game to go.

The Tigers (11-7, 5-1 NLC) used a career-high 25 points and nine rebounds from Judah Simfukwe to get the job done. Simfukwe was 7-11 from the floor and 9-11 from the free throw line as the standout for the Tigers. Jaxon Gould added 17 points and eight rebounds as the two nearly outrebounded the Cavemen themselves (21-17).

Jackson Dawson added seven points and nine rebounds for the Tigers, which roared out to a 19-6 lead in the first quarter and later took a 41-21 lead in the third quarter.

Warsaw held Mishawaka dynamo Trent Johnson to 12 points on 5-20 shooting. Sacario Thomas added 12 points for the Cavemen (10-2, 4-1 NLC), which fall into a tie for second in the NLC with Concord (4-1 NLC), which beat NorthWood in overtime Thursday night.

Warsaw was all over the Cavemen in the JV contest, doubling up 64-32. Kyle Dawson led the Tigers with 19 points and 12 rebounds and Nick Katris added 17 points.

Tippecanoe Valley Boys 51, Wabash 44

Valley earned its first Three Rivers Conference win Thursday night in a home win over Wabash.

The Vikings (4-11, 1-6 TRC) started the game down 13-4, but soon took a 23-22 lead at the half. Nolan Cumberland paced the hosts with 13 points and six rebounds and Paul Leasure was right behind with 12 points, four boards and three assists. Dawson Perkins chimed in with eight points, seven rebounds and three blocks.

Wabash fell to 4-11 and 1-5 with the loss, led by Bryant Boggs with 11 points and Dave Ford added 10 rebounds and seven points.

Wabash won the JV game 56-39.
