WARSAW — Kosciusko County Commissioner Cary Groninger provided an update on work being done in the Old Courtroom of the Kosciusko County Courthouse to enable live streaming capabilities.
At the City of Warsaw’s COVID-19 press conference on Jan. 6, Groninger said the upcoming Jan. 19 commissioners meeting will be held in an alternate location because installation of the equipment is being done that week in the Old courtroom, where the commissioners’ meetings are generally held.
Groninger said they hope to be able to live stream meetings by the Feb. 2 commissioners meeting.
The pandemic has forced government leaders in many jurisdictions to rethink how to keep the public engaged and accessible.
According to Kosciusko County Administrator Marsha McSherry, the total cost for all rooms is approximately $272,000.00. The entire project is being paid for with CARES ACT money awarded to the county.
“Obviously us and about every other county in the state is trying to do the same thing we are, so a lot of equipment to get found and get procured, but we are moving forward with that,” Groninger said.
The cost of the project for the courtroom is approximately $167,000.00. This includes all-new audio equipment, projectors, screens, wireless microphones, cameras and acoustic panels to help with the audio issues.
Video conferencing capabilities will be available in several rooms at the courthouse and Justice Building.
Installation will begin in the courthouse starting on Jan. 11. Work in the Old Courtroom will begin the week of Jan. 18, and all installation is expected to be complete by Jan. 28.
