MARSHALL COUNTY — Gene Burkett, 68, Pierceton, died in a single-vehicle crash Friday evening in the 600 block of 14B Road, Etna Green. The crash occurred at 9:12 p.m.

Officials with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office report they responded to the area of 659 14B Road Friday, Dec. 18. After an investigation it was determined Burkett’s 2016 Chevrolet Colorado was traveling east on 14B Road. At some point the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree.

The vehicle then caught fire.

Burkett was found dead at the scene.
