Pierceton Man Faces Numerous Charges After Gun Fired Inside Residence
Staff Report
PIERCETON — A Pierceton man was recently arrested after threatening several people and firing a gun inside a residence.
Terry Michael Hall, 51, 6756 E. Old Road 30, Pierceton, is charged with criminal confinement with a deadly weapon, a level 3 felony; three counts of intimidation with a deadly weapon, all level 5 felonies; possession of methamphetamine and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon, both level 6 felonies; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Dec. 14, Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officers responded to a report of shots fired inside a Pierceton residence. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with a man who reported the incident.
According to court documents, the man said he received a call from a friend, who asked the man to pick him up at a residence. When the man went to the location, he heard a shot fired from inside the residence. The man did not receive any new communication from his friend, leading him to call 911.
Officers approached the residence and gained a tactical position. Upon announcing their presence, officers heard a man yelling inside. At one point, the man’s friend was pushed out of the residence by Hall.
The friend told officers that Hall was out of control and under the influence of a controlled substance. He said there were three firearms in the residence and that a woman was still inside as well. The friend described Hall as being very agitated and emotional; court documents state Hall was pacing around the residence and carrying a firearm while breaking items and damaging the residence. While inside, Hall allegedly shot a single round from a handgun. Due to Hall’s behavior, the friend said he feared leaving the house because he thought he would be shot.
While officers surrounded the residence, they could hear Hall yelling at the woman inside the house. At times, it sounded like Hall was getting physical with the woman; there were several times where officers heard Hall threatening her. As officers attempted to communicate with him, Hall went to a window several times while holding a shotgun.
At one point, Hall opened the residence’s door and walked out while holding two flashlights. Hall agreed to speak with one officer. When he was close enough, the officer grabbed Hall by the wrist to take him into custody; Hall then attempted to pull away from the officer’s grasp. Hall continued resisting arrest, resulting in a taser being deployed.
While taking Hall into custody, officers found a pipe, two speed loaders with .44 caliber ammunition and two spent cartridges from a .44 magnum.
Officers also found a fully loaded .44 magnum pistol near the residence’s front door. Two shotguns were found in the residence, one of which was reported stolen from a location in Noble County. Officers also found a hole in the east wall of the residence’s living room from the shot fired earlier that night. The projectile went through the wall and into the residence’s garage, hitting items inside the garage.
Officers spoke with the woman at the residence. She said Hall was irate and confirmed that Hall fired off a shot inside the residence. The woman also said Hall was out of control and screaming for a lengthy period of time.
Hall was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Dec. 14, with a $25,500 surety and cash bond.
