Pierceton Woman Arrested For Resisting, Meth Possession
Staff Report
WARSAW — A Pierceton woman was recently arrested for resisting arrest and being in possession of drugs.
Karra Suzanne Stevens, 30, 721 S. CR 450E, Pierceton, is charged with possession of methamphetamine and resisting law enforcement, both level 6 felonies; and possession of paraphernalia, a class C misdemeanor.
On Nov. 21, a Warsaw Police officer went to a residence regarding a woman acting strange and walking around with a bag of white powder. The officer went to the scene and spoke with Stevens, who appeared paranoid and confused.
According to court documents, while the officer spoke with Stevens, she was digging in her pockets. The officer told Stevens to remove her hands from her pockets multiple times before she complied.
The officer then noticed Stevens holding a smoking device. When the officer attempted to retrieve the device, Stevens physically resisted arrest. The officer was eventually able to retrieve the item and place Stevens into handcuffs.
While handcuffing her, the officer noticed Stevens holding a plastic bag containing methamphetamine. Two people at the residence said Stevens entered the residence and asked where her friends were. Stevens then sat down on a bed, pulled out a bag and smoking device and asked the individuals for a lighter. The people at the residence called police while Stevens was in the bathroom.
When the officer told Stevens she was going to jail, Stevens began to yell and refused to get into the officer’s police vehicle. As the officer attempted to put Stevens into the vehicle, Stevens grabbed the officer and dug her nails into the officer’s skin. While being booked at the Kosciusko County Jail, Stevens resisted again and attempted to run from the booking station. The officer and jail staff eventually restrained her and secured Stevens to a chair. While searching Stevens, officers found another plastic bag containing meth.
Stevens has an initial hearing on this case at 8:15 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31.
