Former Warsaw Stars Highlight Crossroads Awards

AVON, Ohio – The Crossroads League Athletes of the Week were announced on Monday, recognizing the top athletes from November 30 through December 6. Sports Information Directors from the league nominate student-athletes for the award and vote on each week’s winners. Chosen for the week were a pair of former Warsaw Community High School basketball stars who have gone on to lead national powers at Indiana Wesleyan.
Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
Dayton Groninger, Indiana Wesleyan
Groninger averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per game to lead RV Indiana Wesleyan past Goshen and Saint Francis. The senior forward shot 54.2 percent from the field in the two contests and was 10-of-12 from the free throw line.
Men’s Basketball Player of the Week
Kyle Mangas, Indiana Wesleyan
Mangas was nearly perfect from the floor in two more wins for No. 3 Indiana Wesleyan. The reigning NAIA Player of the Year made 27-of-31 shots and averaged 29.5 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game to lead IWU past Goshen and Taylor.
