WARSAW — Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory received approval from the Board of Public Works & Safety meeting Friday, Dec. 4, to apply for a grant through the Indiana Department of Homeland Security for two air max disinfecting electric foggers.
Warsaw-Wayne Fire Chief Mike Wilson said the fogging machines are important while dealing with COVID to help with disinfecting.
The foggers would be used to assist in sanitizing the three fire stations housing the emergency response apparatus, along with sharing the foggers with Lutheran EMS and the 14 additional fire departments within the county.
Wilson said there would be no out-of-pocket costs involved. The foggers would be completely covered by the IDHS grant.
The Board also gave approval for the purchase of a 2021 Chevy Battalion Chief Command vehicle by Warsaw-Wayne Fire Territory. The vehicle, at a cost of $89,555.24, is a replacement for the current 2009 Tahoe that has over 130,000 miles.
The design of the vehicle is intended for two purposes: to act as a responding command vehicle for all aspects of emergency services and to transport necessary hazardous material testing equipment.
