Claypool Investigation Leads To Drug Arrests

CLAYPOOL— Claypool Police launched an investigation after receiving a tip regarding possible illegal drug activity occurring at 201 E. Calhoun St., according to information provided in a press release from Claypool Police Department Town Marshal Benjamin Sanders.
The tip came from several people who reported suspicious activity occurring at the location, along with an anonymous tip to NET43.
With this information, the Claypool Police Department and NET43 began a narcotics investigation which culminated in the execution of a search warrant on Nov. 24.
During the execution of the search warrant at 201 E. Calhoun St., officers found drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine and hypodermic syringes.
Paul Berkey was charged with maintaining a common nuisance, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a syringe for a legend drug and possession of paraphernalia. Anthony S. Milton and Andrew M. Taylor were each charged with visiting a common nuisance.
As a result of this investigation, formal criminal charges are being considered by the Kosciusko County Prosecutors Office. This investigation is still ongoing, with possible future arrests.
Claypool Police Department was assisted by the Narcotics Enforcement Team of Kosciusko County (NET 43), Silver Lake Police Department, Mentone Police Department, Indiana State Police and the Kosciusko County Prosecuting Attorneys Office.
