Hepler, NorthWood Duo Named All-State

INDIANAPOLIS – A pair of tablesetters and a defensive specialist were among the area selections for the Indiana High School Volleyball Coaches Association All-State team, announced Tuesday night.
NorthWood setter Kendal Miller and teammate Macy Lengacher were both named Class 3-A Second Team selections. Miller did a little of everything as a senior for the Panthers, earning All-State honors for the second straight season by compiling 363 digs and 833 assists for the sectional champion Panthers. Lengacher, just a sophomore, had 71 aces and 434 digs for NorthWood.
Triton setter Emma Hepler was a Second Team All-State selection for Class 1-A. The senior also did a little of everything for the regional qualifying Trojans, namely 196 digs and 854 assists.
The IHSVCA chose 28 players from around the state for each of the four classes.
Class 3-A had Lakeland’s Bailey Hartsough make the First Team. In Class 2-A, Fairfield’s Madisyn Steele was First Team and Kayla Miller was Second Team. Wabash’s Mariah Wyatt was named First Team All-State.
Class 1-A had quite a few area players named, with state champion Pioneer’s Madison Blickerstaff and Olivia Brooke both First Team and Hailey Cripe as Second Team. Northfield’s Addison Baker was First Team and Kyra Kennedy was Second Team. Bethany Christian’s Sadie Brenneman was named Second Team All-State.
