Staff Report
WARSAW — A man was recently arrested after choking a woman.
James Robert Lee Anderson, 32, 3401 S. Harvey St., Marion, is charged with strangulation and domestic battery with a child under 16 present, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery, a class A misdemeanor.
On July 4, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s deputy went to a residence regarding a domestic complaint. The officer first met with Anderson, who said a woman had hit him in the head multiple times after he called her a name. The officer then met with the woman.
According to court documents, the woman said she and Anderson had been talking when he became upset. Anderson walked toward her, called her a b**** and acted as if he was going to hit her. The woman said at that point in time, she did hit Anderson in the head. When the woman said she was going to leave, Anderson allegedly placed his hands around the woman’s neck.
The woman pushed Anderson off of her; however, he once again approached her and choked her. Anderson admitted to choking the woman. Two children were also at the residence when this incident occurred. One of the children said they saw Anderson choke the woman. The woman then left the scene with the children.
Anderson was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Nov. 4, with a $5,500 surety and cash bond.
