MILFORD — The first voter in Van Buren Township, at Wawasee Community Bible Church, was in line at 5:45 a.m. this morning with a small group waiting. By the time the doors were open at 6 a.m. more than 70 voters from Van Buren Township were in line.
Lines of voters were also reported at the polling sites for Turkey Creek, Tippecanoe Townships and elsewhere in Kosciusko County.
The line at Wawasee Community Bible Church one point had snaked around the east end of the blacktop parking lot and even into the overflow parking area. Some voters reported waiting in line for 30 minutes just to get inside the doors. Others waited up to 45 minutes. But no complaints were being heard. It appeared from the two lines forming inside the building, most of the voters were from Van Buren Precincts 1 and 2.
Approximately an hour later, there was still a line, but it was all inside the building. This time the line was for those casting votes in Van Buren Precint 3. But the wait time had cut back to approximately 25 minutes.
By 7:20 a.m. 109 voters had cast their votes in Van Buren Precincts 1 and 2 and 99 had checked in at Van Buren 3. These numbers were already up for the same time frame from the primary in June.
