Ceremony For Gold Star Families 10 a.m. Tuesday
News Release
WARSAW — Wording to honor Gold Star families has been added to the War Memorial on the grounds of the Kosciusko County Courthouse, at the corner of Center and Lake streets.
Kosciusko Honor & Remember, in cooperation with the Kosciusko County Commissioners, have added the following wording: ”KOSCIUSKO COUNTY EXPRESSES ETERNAL GRATITUDE TO GOLD STAR FAMILIES WHOSE LOVED ONE PAID THE ULTIMATE PRICE DEFENDING THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. THEIR SACRIFICE WILL NOT BE FORGOTTEN.”
A ceremony to dedicate the addition and honor Gold Star families will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, in the Old Courtroom, third floor of the Kosciusko Courthouse. Participants will then proceed to the memorial for a 21 gun salute, taps and prayer.
Blue Star service banners originated during World War I in 1917. The banner would be changed to a Gold Star if a family member was lost in war.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony and always encouraged to stop by the monument at any time to remember that “freedom Isn’t free.”
