CLAYPOOL – Claypool’s trick or treat hours will be from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31.
The times were approved during the Town Council’s Oct. 20 meeting. Jamie Archer was also present at the meeting to ask that Main Street be blocked off from Section to Calhoun Streets from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Halloween for trunk or treat. Council approved the request.
Someplace Else Saloon will be giving away free chili and hot dogs during the event. Due to COVID-19, there will be no games or bounce houses this year. There will still be a raffle for new bicycles for children. Those participating in trunk or treat are asked to wear masks and follow social distancing protocols.
“We definitely want to promote as much safety as we can,” said Archer.
Council also held its public hearing for the town’s 2021 budget, which totals $236,319. The budget will be adopted during an adoption meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 2.
Regarding leaf pick-up, the council and town employees ask that residents put their leaves in biodegradable bags. Do not put them in plastic bags. Leaf burning is also prohibited.
The council will hold an administrative meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, to address several topics, including an Area Plan Commission matter for Jon Fussle. During the council’s September meeting, Fussle requested a letter to Area Plan for rezoning a building. Council’s next regular meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17.
