WARSAW – Mayor Joe Thallemer publicized the importance of getting a flu shot Tuesday as he and other city employees lined up for a chance to receive theirs.
Health experts are advocating the need for flu shots this year in light of the continuing coronavirus pandemic.
“Keeping people healthy in this still uncertain COVID time is as critical as anything,” Thallemer said. “It makes good sense from a health standpoint to keep as healthy as you can during the winter.
Thallemer got his shot Tuesday morning in the council chambers at City Hall during the annual effort by the city to have city employees get the test.
Flu shots are available at many pharmacies and at the Kosciusko County Health office in the K21 Health Services Pavilion at 1515 Provident Drive, Suite 160 in Warsaw. Shots at the health department office are by appointment only to reduce the number of people waiting. The phone number is (574) 267-7028.
Full disclosure: Reporter Dan Spalding also received a flu shot at the event and used his own private insurance to pay for it.
