Warsaw 3, Concord 0

Warsaw finished off the job Thursday, capping an undefeated Northern Lakes Conference season with a 25-10, 25-17, 25-13 blitz of Concord at the Tiger Den. Warsaw finishes the year 7-0 in the NLC and champions and its first title since 2014.

Warsaw (21-8) did the job with the power of Kennedy Lauck and Abby Sanner in the middle, each with seven kills and five combined blocks. Kylie Smith and Kendra Love combined for 16 digs, four assists and three aces and Avery Hales did her usual basket full of work with 25 assists, five kills, two aces and two digs.

The win caps a tour de force for the Tigers in the conference, to which it lost just one game in its seven matches (a 3-1 score against Northridge) and gives the program its third NLC title in the last 20 years and 11th NLC title overall.

Warsaw head coach Chandra Hepler stated, “I am so proud of our players and program right now, but not just because they became the NLC conference champions tonight, but because they continue to overcome adversity, to deal with change daily, to hold themselves and their teammates accountable and play with a desire to succeed as a unified team. To see them set a goal months ago and reach that goal tonight makes me not only proud, but excited to see just how much they can accomplish together this season.”

Warsaw posted a 25-15, 25-12 JV win over the Minutemen. Clara Porter had 16 assists, five kills and four aces to pace the Tigers, with Kenzie Chivington adding seven kills and Sadie Walden 10 digs.

The Warsaw freshmen started the night with a 25-14, 25-21 win over Concord. Leah Henderson registered 16 digs and nine kills, Claire Reichenbach had 14 assists and Liz Heckaman added seven aces.

Triton 3, Knox 0

Triton closed out its regular season with a 25-12, 25-22, 25-15 win at the Trench.

Passing the 1,000 assist mark for her career was Emma Hepler, who sent up 18 more Thursday. Hepler added seven digs in the contest.

Abbey Viers had 15 kills and three blocks, Addyson Viers had four kills, three aces and three blocks, and Molly McFarland had 13 digs in the win.

Knox hung matching 25-22 game scores to beat Triton in the JV contest. Morgan Feldman and Lena Doll paired for 24 digs and Lauren Snyder had 13 assists in the match for the Trojans, which fall to 12-13 overall.

One note for the Triton varsity announced Thursday is the shifting of the sectional from Oregon-Davis to Triton. O-D announced it cannot safely host the tournament next week due to COVID issues within its community, to which Triton absorbed the tournament. The games will take place on the same days and times, beginning Thursday with Triton and LaCrosse meeting in the first game of the tournament at 6 p.m. The final is set for Saturday evening at 7 p.m.

Southwood 3, Tippecanoe Valley 0

A tight contest went the way of Southwood in a 25-21, 25-21, 25-12 result Thursday in Wabash.

Tippecanoe Valley (12-13, 5-4 TRC) welcomed back Delaney Wagoner from injury, to which Wagoner posted 11 digs, four kills and 1.5 blocks. Bree Sheetz had eight digs and five kills and Hannah Engstrand added 12 assists.

The Valley JV lost 25-23, 25-20. Karli Hogue led the Vikes with nine digs and two kills and Macy Kirchenstien assisted on 10 points.

NorthWood 3, Wawasee 0

NorthWood (21-6, 6-1 NLC) welcomed back two of its players from a contact tracing absence, and immediately saw dividends in a 25-19, 25-23, 25-21 win over its Northern Lakes Conference rivals at The Pit.

Ali Knepp was one of them, who pounded home 17 kills and Annika Bennett had three assists and two aces in her return.

Fellow Panthers Alana Lehman had nine kills and three blocks, Macy Lengacher and Kennedy Hochstetler combined for 30 digs and Kendal Miller had 36 assists.

Wawasee (20-11, 1-6 NLC) did not provide stats.
