WARSAW – The number of voters casting ballots by mail in Kosciusko County has nearly quadrupled compared to two years ago and there are still two weeks left for that number to grow.
As of Wednesday, the county had received 3,967 mailed ballots. The total number in 2016 reached 1,176 and in 2018 reached 1,070.
Early voting in Kosciusko County began Tuesday with 379 voters visiting the Justice Building. That first-day total was more than double what election officials saw on the first day in 2016 and 2018, according to information provided by the county clerk’s office.
This year’s ballot is topped off with the race for U.S. President and includes more contested state and local races in Kosciusko County than often seen in recent election cycles.
County Clerk Ann Torpy said voters should expect lines when arriving to vote early and on Election Day.
