CLAYPOOL — More details have been released about an Oct. 1 standoff between Kosciusko County law enforcement and a Warsaw man.
Quincy Akeem Jenkins, 27, 212 S. Union St. C., Warsaw, is charged with burglary, a level 4 felony; theft and criminal mischief, both class A misdemeanors; public nudity, a class C misdemeanor; and sentence enhancement theft, a level 6 felony.
On Oct. 1, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer received a report of a man breaking into a residence in the Claypool area. Upon arrival, two men told the officer about a man who had broken a residence’s window and entered the home. According to court documents, the two men provided video evidence to law enforcement which shows the man, later identified as Jenkins, in varying stages of undress attempting to get into vehicles near a residence.
Police then spoke with the homeowner, who said he did not know Jenkins and that nobody had permission to be on the property. The Kosciusko County SWAT Team was deployed to take Jenkins into custody.
According to witnesses, by the time Jenkins had broken into the residence, he was nude, having taken off all of his clothing. When the SWAT Team found Jenkins inside the residence, he was wearing what appeared to be women’s pants that he had taken from the home. The residence also appeared to be ransacked, with many items in disarray or damaged.
The homeowner also noted that several bottles of alcohol had been consumed while Jenkins was in the residence. Damages to the residence were estimated to cost $2,500.
Jenkins was taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for treatment of injuries that are consistent with climbing through a broken window, the report said.
Jenkins also has multiple prior convictions for burglary, battery, theft and conversion. He is also currently on bond for an auto theft case in Kosciusko County. At the time of his arrest, Jenkins also had two warrants for failing to appear in two separate criminal misdemeanor cases.
In this case, Jenkins was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 1, with a $17,500 surety and cash bond.
