SYRACUSE — In order to raise money for Hoosier Burn Camp, approximately 20 firefighters, family and friends walked nearly five miles from Turkey Creek Fire Territory station one to the Wawasee Area Conservancy Foundation and back again.
Jonathon Piercy, Chris Longenbaugh and other members of the fire territory teamed up to organize the first Firefighters Walk. The local firefighters walked in their gear for the entire walk.
The path led along SR 13 to Harkless Drive and then along the WACF trails. Once returning to fire station one, the group gathered for a photo. A paramedic truck, ambulance and fire truck traveled along with the walkers.
So far they have raised over $4,300 for Hoosier Burn Camp.
