WARSAW – Jon Hoover and the Warsaw girls soccer program are used to taking the shots they are comfortable shooting. Hoover is challenging his team to step outside their comfort zone in serving a greater good.
The girls soccer program will host a series of collection nights at respective home games this season. Beginning Tuesday, Sept. 1 with Goshen, the team will collect canned foods for Combined Community Services.
Additional drives will be held Sept. 5 for baby supplies for Heartline Pregnancy Center, Sept. 26 for pet supplies for the Animal Welfare League, and Sept. 29 for school supplies for Baker Youth Club.
“One of the principles our team is based on is “living outside of yourself”,” stated Hoover. “Living outside of yourself is the concept of being aware of those around us, seeing potential needs of people that we may come in contact with, and doing whatever we can do to come alongside and help. In this pandemic season, it is so easy for us to lose sight of those around us as we navigate new schedules and norms. These young women want to take this opportunity to “live outside of themselves” and support some of these local organizations that give selflessly every day. This group “goes big” in everything they do, so I’m excited to see how they can raise donations these days coming up.”
