In a non-conference tilt in the land George Steinbrenner helped fund, the Eagles held off a good fight from the Panthers.
NorthWood’s lone win came from Ben Vincent, who went deep into three sets to beat Paul Wilson 6-3, 4-6, 6-1. It was the first time in over a year Vincent has lost a set after winning all of his court matchups in straights in 2019.
Nate Posner needed three sets to take care of Brady Chupp 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 and Sam Mears got past Treyton Martin two and three.
Both of Culver’s doubles courts won in straights, AJ Davidson and Wes Henthorn winning three and love over Gage Gongwer and Chaz Yoder, and Aydin Turgut and Nexus Feng posted a love, 7-5 result over Brad Demitruk and Isaac Roberts.
Culver won 10 of the 12 JV courts.
NorthWood (0-2) will return to play Thursday in hosting Mishawaka.

The rescheduled tennis match for Friday was rained out again. A new time and date for the match was not immediately announced.
