Mentone To Hold Hometown Celebration Saturday
MENTONE — Mentone will be having a hometown celebration Saturday Aug. 29, located at 116 W. Main St., next to Subway.
The event is being sponsored by MPS Egg Farms.
At 8 a.m., the hometown celebration begins with a farmers market and craft show. The Mentone United Methodist Church teens will be holding a car wash at the Big Egg at 9 a.m.
The Red Barn will be selling lemon shake-ups and elephant ears, Mentone EMS will be selling Igloo ice cream, members of Scout Troops will be selling mouse ears and Wheels on Fire Cancer Crusaders will be selling hamburgers and hotdogs.
Downtown shops are featuring sidewalk sales. There will also be town-wide garage sales Thursday- Saturday.
From 6-9 p.m., Saturday, the band “Side Effects” will be playing. Please bring your own chair.
Town officials ask that everyone follow CDC guidelines for social distancing during this event.
“With us not being able to have our egg festival this year due to the Covid outbreak, the Chamber of Commerce decided to have a hometown celebration for everyone to get out and enjoy everything our small town has to offer,” said Rita Price-Simpson, president of the Mentone Chamber of Commerce. “And we would like to give a thank you to MPS Egg Farms for making this event possible.”
