CROWN POINT – After losing its first game of the weekend, the Attack 12U baseball program rallied to win its final four games, including a convincing championship game, to cap its summer tournament season.
Comprised of players from in and around the Warsaw area, the Attack baseball team lost 12-3 to Triple Crown in its first game of the United States Specialty Sports Association tournament at the Crown Point Sports Complex.
In its second game, Luke Mann, Brayden Green and Carson Paulik combined to twirl a two-hit gem as the Attack swamped Morris Elite 14-0. Six hits, five walks and six Morris errors led to the blowout win.
A steady scoring of runs by the Attack allowed for a redemption in game three, laying on a 9-3 win over Triple Crown. Drew Bingamon had three hits and three runs scored while Brandt Martin struck out 12 in the complete-game performance.
A four-run third inning helped the Attack to a 5-2 in the semi-finals over their Naperville opponents. Bingamon added another three hits and Gavin Shultz drove in a pair. Quinton Brock tripled and drove in a run in the win. Paulik struck on 10 on the hill for the Attack.
In the final, the Attack wasted no time in scoring eight runs in the top of the first, and after Crown Point scored three in its half of the first, the Attack scored two more en route to a 12-4 championship capper. A 12-hit team performance at the place had Bingamon add three more hits to his totals, and Martin, Shultz and Mann each drove in two runs in the championship. Brock had the complete game on the hill, striking out eight over four innings of finals work.
The Attack team finished its 2020 summer schedule 34-7 overall.
