Valley Splits At Cass Tourney
Tippecanoe Valley traveled to Walton to participate in the Lewis Cass Tourney on Saturday. The Vikings split their two contests, besting the boys from Eastern 4-1 and losing to the host Kings 4-1.
The winner of each modified match was the first player to eight games in a single set. In their victory over the Comets, Valley got wins from all three of its singles entries, Payton Mills at one (8-3), Dylan Neese at two (8-3)Â and Owen Kirchenstein at three (8-0). The first doubles team of Ethan Hartman and Annakin Pettit also won 8-4, while the two doubles duo of Cooper Walls and Wyatt Reiter dropped their match 1-8.
Against Lewis Cass, Kirchenstein moved up to No. 2 singles and was the only victor, beating his opponent 8-4. Neese played in the one singles spot, falling 1-8 while Walls filled in at No. 3 and came up short at 0-8. Hartman and Pettit fell 2-8 in the one doubles slot while Reiter and Mason Purvis couldn’t get get a game in the win column, losing 0-8.
The Vikings will play host to the Apaches from Wabash on Tuesday, Aug. 27, with matches scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
