Annual BYC Fundraiser Makes Shift To Online Event
News Release
WARSAW — In lieu of an in-person event, Baker Youth Club (BYC) will host a live-streaming event from 7:30-9 p.m. Thursday Aug. 27. This event will have guest speakers, entertainment and a live and silent auction, with the goal to raise funds to enable BYC to continue serving the community as it has for over 90 years.
“More than any year, BYC needs our community’s support,” said BYC Executive Director Tracy Frunivall.
Last month, Baker Youth Club and its board of directors made the difficult decision to cancel the in-person event scheduled for Aug. 15. The “Making A Difference” with Dueling Pianos has been rescheduled and will now be held next year, on March 12, 2021.
Furnivall said the board felt that due to the number of people typically attending this event and the socializing that comes with it, it was not in the best interest of the community at this time.
The decision to cancel was not an easy choice, Furnivall said, because this event is their largest fundraiser of year and is a vital part of the BYC budget. The funds generated from the annual event covers many of the BYC programs as well as a large portion of the operating budget.
The community will be able to view the event. All you have to do is “Like/Follow” the BYC Facebook page and you will get promotional videos and updates regarding the event and the auction, then just follow BYC “Live” on Facebook Thursday, at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27.
BYC was able to reopen its doors on June 1 for their summer program. Following CDC guidelines, they will continue to operate their before and after school programs.
Donations are welcome at any time via the web site or in-person at BYC. For more details regarding this event and any of BYC programs, please visit their website at www.bakeryouthclub.com or call (574)-267-8771.
The silent auction is now open — all you have to do is click the link and register. Happy bidding!
