She lived most of her life and raised her family in Nappanee. On October 16, 1945 she married Robert L. Shaw, Jr. in Blakely, Ga., who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2014. Also preceding her in death were her son, Jerry (Sheila) Shaw, and two brothers, Oliver C. “Red” and Gilford Truex.

Frances treasured her family and lit up at the sight of her grandchildren, even into adulthood, and her great and great-great grandchildren. She loved to crochet and made beautiful afghan blankets for her family. She liked collecting and organizing and saw to it that each grandchild has a coin set of quarters from all 50 United States. Frances enjoyed canning and baking zucchini bread for everyone she knew. Other favorite pastimes were baseball card collecting and listening to old time gospel music. She will be remembered for her love and selflessness and for being quick to make a joke and tell it over and over, which always triggered smiles and warmed hearts.
The funeral service will be held at Thompson Lengacher & Yoder Funeral Home, 950 N Main, Nappanee at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2020, with visitation prior to the service from 1-3 p.m. Officiating, at her request, will be her grandson, Rev.
