WARSAW — A Warsaw man was arrested after allegedly battering and strangling a woman.
Todd Michael Clay, 28, 3699 N. CR 175E Lot 183, Warsaw, is charged with domestic battery with a child under 16 present and strangulation, both level 6 felonies; and domestic battery and interference with the reporting of a crime, both class A misdemeanors.
On May 19, a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s officer responded to a domestic violence report at a residence. Upon arrival, the officer spoke with a woman who said she had been in an altercation with Clay. According to court documents, the woman described being choked by Clay and that she started to yell for help and clawed to get away. She then attempted to call 911 but Clay took her phone and kicked her in the head.
Two children were in the residence when the altercation occurred. The officer also noticed red marks on the woman’s neck and scratch marks on Clay’s forehead, hand, neck and chest.
A woman who reported the incident said she called 911 after hearing banging and someone asking for help.
Clay has an initial hearing on this case at 1 p.m. July 10, in Kosciusko Superior Court 2.
