YORKTOWN – NorthWood junior Breanna Goss was just off the pace for honors at the latest Howard Bailey Junior Golf tour stop at The Players Club at Woodland Trails.
Goss, who just completed playing in the Indiana State Am last week, finished tied for third with a seven-over 79 in the 16-18 girls age group. Goss, who started out three over after three holes, rallied big time to go just four over the remainder of the round. Goss birdied the 367-yard par-four 14th.
Former NorthWood teammate Kirsten Schrock fell well off the pace, starting seven-over after six holes and couldn’t correct it in settled at an 89 for the day.
Goss and Muncie’s Teddi Bishop both were six shots back of the daily champ, Zionsville’s Becky Williams, who posted a one-over 73 for the one-day event. Fort Wayne’s Simone Senk was two back of Williams at 75.
The Howard Bailey tour had three other age groups in action. Winners included Kokomo’s Elizabeth Mercer in girls 13-15; Indianapolis’ Leo Wessel in boys 13-15; and New Castle’s D Tabor in boys 16-18. There were no direct local players in any of the other three age divisions.
