INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis man faces charges after allegedly stealing a 2000 Pontiac Sedan and leading police on a high speed pursuit.
Christopher Lawrence Montgomery, 25, 8924 Manswood Drive, Indianapolis, is charged with theft, a level 6 felony; resisting law enforcement, a level 6 felony; and driving while suspended, a class A misdemeanor.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on June 4, a Pierceton Police officer was dispatched to a Marathon Gas Station in Kosciusko County in reference to a vehicle theft.
When the officer arrived on scene, he was informed that a man had just stolen a vehicle. The officer received information that the suspect took a 2000 bronze Pontiac Sedan and was heading west on US 30.
Dispatch notified all law enforcement units in the area about the stolen vehicle report, and the vehicle was found in the area of Commerce Drive in Warsaw.
A deputy from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office activated the emergency lights and siren on his police car and initiated a traffic stop.
The driver of the vehicle did not stop and instead led the KCSO deputy and other police units on a chase. The driver was weaving in and out of traffic and eventually lost control of the vehicle in the median along US 30. The vehicle came to a stop, and the driver was identified as Montgomery.
It was found that Montgomery was operating under a license that was suspended.
Montgomery was booked at the Kosciusko County Jail on June 4.
