Two Injured In Leesburg Motorcycle Accident Thursday Night

LEESBURG — Two people were injured in a motorcycle accident in Leesburg Thursday night.
Shortly after 10 p.m. on June 11, emergency crews were dispatched to CR 700N, east of Harper Road, for a single motorcycle crash.
Personnel who initially arrived at the scene found two injured people, identified as Douglas Protzman, 63, of Leesburg and Ericka D. Steele, 36, of Akron, Ohio.
Protzman was airlifted by Lutheran Air Ambulance and taken to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with multiple injuries. Steele was taken by Lutheran EMS to Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne with head and neck injuries. Neither Protzman nor Steele were wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, the news release said.
According to investigating deputies, the 2002 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling eastbound on CR 700N, prior to the collision. For reasons unknown, the motorcycle left the north side of the roadway on a curve, ejecting both onto an embankment.
Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office, Milford Police Department, Plain Township Fire Department, Lutheran EMS and Lutheran Air Ambulance responded to the scene.
This crash remains under investigation, pending toxicology results.
