WARSAW – Travis McConnell, a Warsaw attorney, filed paperwork on Friday, June 5, to run for middle district commissioner in Kosciusko County on the Democratic ticket.
Kosciusko County Democrats voted to slate McConnell to run against incumbent Republican Cary Groninger.
McConnell, 37, is involved with One Warsaw – Celebrating Us, a group that stresses the importance of diversity.
“I really want to try and bring our community together. What really prompted me was the continued division in our country, even in the middle of the pandemic,” McConnell said.
He said he will focus on economic development and noted that unemployment rose in recent months from 2.9 percent to 19.2 percent.
“We can promise openness, honesty and willingness to move things forward,” McConnell said.
McConnell was scheduled to host a kick-off gathering Friday night at The Vic on North Buffalo Street. The event is a fundraiser, but people can also watch live on his Facebook page.
