McConnell Exploring Run For County Commissioner In Fall Election
WARSAW – Local attorney Travis J. McConnell announced he will establish an exploratory committee for his candidacy, as a Democrat, in the upcoming election for Middle District County Commissioner of Kosciusko County.
Heather Smith, business banker from 1st Source Bank, is serving as the Committee Treasurer, according to a news release from McConnell.
McConnell has practiced law for over a decade. In addition to practicing personal injury law, he serves as a public defender for those citizens who cannot afford to hire an attorney in Kosciusko Superior Court 2.
McConnell is a former board member and president of the Beaman Home, former board member of Gradway, and former board member of the Northern Indiana Maternal Child Health Network.
He currently serves on the Warsaw Morning Optimist Club Board, the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Merit Board and is the current President of One Warsaw, a community organization that promotes varying viewpoints and seeks to heal divides in the community.
He has the support of his wife, Sara, with whom he has two wonderful children.
He said he is excited for the opportunity to provide an additional point of view to the community and “help to bring our community together.”
Republican Cary Groninger is the middle district commissioner and is seeking election to his first full term.
